Obama Offers Free Community College

 

This past January, President Obama introduced his plan for free community college. Th eWhite House estimated that the cost of the program would be estimated $600 billion over 10 years adn would, if all state paticipate, include about 900 million students. Obamas upciming State of the Union will focus on making sure that middle class families will benefit from the impriving economy with increased wages and home values. 

University of Illinois Tuition Freeze

 

This past Janurary, it has been officially announced that incoming University of Illinois freshman will recieve the school's first tuition freeze since 1993. This has been approved by the Board of Trustees, addressing the need for greater affordabillity. The freeze will follow the incoming Class of 2015 for the next four years, but will not be renewed for the ensuing years. However, out-of-state freshman and international students in fall 2015 tuition will increase by 2%, neccessary to keep up with inflation. 

 

The cost of an undergraduate diploma at U of I is 71 higher than it was 10 years ago. 

 

Progressive, Productive Ways 

 

We all know how valuable and the price of college education. So much so that it is unobtainable by a those who cannot afford it. Thankfully, there are ways that the nation and local community have made it easier to get a college degree.
